When the Switch launched in 2017, Nintendo re-released the game with its DLC, some new tracks and a battle mode. Those are particularly staggering figures when you remember that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a port of a Wii U game that came out back in 2014. Selling another 3.34 million copies in the first quarter of this year, bringing its lifetime sales to 38.74 million! Just think of all those blue shell victims. Nintendo released the financial results for its second quarter on Thursday and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe seems to be trucking along just fine. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just sped past Mario Kart Wii in sales, becoming the bestselling entry in the long-running series.
